501 Rohana-Miga Jātaka (JTA 198) The Teaching of the Golden Deer Ashin Sarana:
Valentina’s drawing One day the Buddha told a story about Venerable Ananda risking his life for Buddha’s and said this was not the only time. Long ago, the Bodhisatta was born as a golden stag and he had a brother, sister, and two blind parents who were very old. One day, a hunter saw that stag, and, on his deathbed, he told his son where he saw it. A bit after, Queen Khema, the king’s wife, had a dream about a golden stag and ordered to catch it and hear a teaching from it. The hunter’s son told the king what his father told him and went off to search. He found it and captured it, but the brother and younger sister seeing this, they sacrificed themselves for the golden stag and told the hunter that if he killed the three of them, their parents would be dead, with nobody looking after them. Heartfelt, the hunter refused the kill it and heard teachings from it. He brought back the hairs of the stag and went back to the palace to explain what happened and told the queen the teachings. The hunter died and went to heaven and so did the queen and king after living with the teachings.Kids’ drawing
