402 Sattubhasta Jātaka (JTA 150) The Skin Bag Ashin Sarana:
May’s drawing In Kasi, there was a brahmin that got 1000 coins and deposited it with a brahmin family but the family used the money for themselves. They couldn’t give the money back so they offered their daughter and the brahmin married her. The daughter asked to have a maid but the brahmin said no since they were poor but she said to try and get donated 1000 coins like he did in the past so he did that and got 700 coins. When he was going home a tree deva saw a snake go in his bag and told him it he stops then he will die but if he goes home his wife will die so he turned around and was scared. He saw people going somewhere and asked where they were going. It was an uposatha day and that there is a wise senaka. The Brahmin went and told senaka what the tree deva told him. Senaka asked him questions and then said there is a snake in the bag and that it you stopped, you would open your bag for food and get bitten but if your wife opened it she would get bitten. Then senaka told him to open the bag and prod it with a stick. The Brahmin did it and then senaka told the brahmin that his wife is misbehaving with someone. The Brahmin came home and told her wife where the money was. The next morning it wasn’t there so he went to senaka and told him and senaka said to invite 7 Brahmins then slowly take away one. He did that and said there is one that his wife invited everyday and that one person that came went to senaka and said he took the coins so senaka sent his men to get the coins and punished the wife and the thief, returned the money to the Brahmin, and gave him a new house.Kids’ drawing
