IV. 7. The King and the King of Kings
Chattapāṇiupāsakassa vatthu Yarzar M's summary:
One day both a man named Chattapani and the King Pasendi Kosala wished to pay respect to the Buddha in observing of Fast-day. When Chattapani saw the king approach he did not rise as that would honor the king and not the Buddha This angered the king until the Buddha praised Chattapani, because of that praise the king requested that Chattapani recite the law to his two queens, but he denied since it was improper and instead recommended a monk did so. The king then requested to the Buddha one of the monks recite the law and Elder Ananda was assigned the duty. One of the queens did not faithfully learn and the Buddha said how teaching the law to one could be fruitful or fruitless.
