400 Dabbhapuppha Jātaka (JTA 148) The Jackal’s Judgment Ashin Sarana:
Andre Thu’s drawing Once there was a bikkhu who stayed at different monasteries, jumping from one to another, during the rainy season and afterwards, during a ceremony, he explained to some other bikkhus that we must all live contently and collected their unnecessary accessories. Though, two bikkhus were trying to divide something equally, two robes and a blanket, so they told the bikkhu to decide how much each would get. He took the blanket for himself and gave both of them one robe. The Buddha explained that this was not the first time he had done thins, and that in the past a jackal’s wife wanted some fish, so he searched for it. Two otters caught a fish and could not decide how to split it so the jackal gave one the head, one the tail and he took the fleshy part of the fish. The wife asked how he obtained this and he explained how while the buddha, now a tree deva, observed this scene.Kids’ drawing
