319 Tittira Jātaka (JTA 123) The Decoy Ashin Sarana:
May’s drawing The bodhisatta was born into a brahmin family. When he became an ascetic, he traveled to a village to get salt and vinegar. The villagers were impressed by him and told him they wanted him to remain nearby and built him a hut but in the village there was a fowler who trained a partridge to act as a decoy. One day the fowler trapped many partridges and started to walk towards the village. When the fowler was asleep one of the partridges called out to the ascetic and asked if he was guilty and the ascetic said no. The ascetic gave many reasons why and the partridge finally was convinced and was freed from remorse.Kids’ drawing
