There were two bhikkhus who were good friends. One had a water strainer and one did-not but they shared. They got into a fight and stop sharing the water strainer. So the bhikkhu who did not have the water strainer had to drink the dirty water that contained small living beings. When they went to the Buddha and told him what happened, the Buddha told them the story of their past.
