Bodhisatta named Somadatta helps his poor family by going to Baranasi. His father asks him to request an ox from the king, but the son trains his socially awkward father to make the request. They end up receiving sixteen oxen instead of one, and the son realizes his father made a deliberate mistake, despite the father claiming it was intentional.
