A woman named Kana gave four cakes that were meant for her husband to four monks four times, and due to this her husband found a new wife. For this Kana blamed those monks and abused any monk she saw on the street. When the Buddha learned of this he put a stop to her abuse. The king heard from the Buddha that Kana was now a mistress who transcends the world and the king gave her a new husband who could provide for her. Kana then went on constantly giving alms to every monk and nun she possibly could, and even then wished to give more.
