V. 7. A Leper is Tempted to Deny his Faith

The leper, Suppabuddha, hears the Exalted One preach the Law and attains the Fruit of Conversion. Wishing to inform the teacher of his good fortune, he waits for the crowd to disperse before approaching. On his way over, Sakka, King of Gods decided to test him, he offered the leper limitless wealth if he were to denounce the Buddha, the Law, and the Order. Suppabuddha turns him down and tells the Teacher of his blessing before being killed by a young heifer shortly after due to misdeeds in a past life.
