Elder Sāriputta, dismissed many monks as he was preparing to go on an alms-pilgrimage but he missed one monk and that monk straightaway conceived a grudge. He goes to The Teacher and claims that the Elder struck him a blow that almost broke the chain of his ear(outer ear), then left for his alms-pilgrimage without so much as begging for pardon. When Elder Sāriputta was questioned, the elder only replied by reciting his virtues. Remorse filled the monk who slandered him, and he admitted his faults. The Elder kindly pardoned him.
