In Baranasi, there was a king named Maha-Pingala who ruled with absolute authority, imposing high taxes to accumulate wealth and treating his family and servants harshly. Upon his death, the people celebrated, relieved to be free from his oppressive rule. His eldest son succeeded him as king, ruling justly and fairly until his own passing.
