020 Nalapāna Jātaka (JTA 1.13) The Hollow Canes Ashin Saraṇa:
Andre Thu’s drawing Once some people were getting some canes but they were hollow so they asked the Buddha. He explained that once he was a monkey king and told do not eat or drink without my permission. On a journey, in one of the lakes a yakkha was there. They then made straws of of the cane so that they would not be eaten. The canes would be hollow for another eon.
